5.2.7.8Failure detection

In order to fulfil Regulation (EU) 2017/373 [4], ATS.OR.140 ‘Failure or irregularity of systems and equipment’ as well as ICAO Doc 4444 [14] Chapter 7.1.3 ‘Failure or irregularity of aids and equipment’, the remote tower system should enable the ATCO/AFISO to detect any failure or irregularity which could adversely affect the safety or efficiency of flight operations and/or the provision of ATS, such as corrupt, delayed (beyond the defined maximum latency value) or frozen image of the visual surveillance system. Note: Technical standards for maximum video failure notification time can be found in EUROCAE ED-240A Change 1 [19] (VC REQ 4).
