CS 25.619Special factors

The factor of safety prescribed in CS 25.303 must be multiplied by the highest pertinent special factor of safety prescribed in CS 25.621 through CS 25.625 for each part of the structure whose strength is –

(a)Uncertain.

(b)Likely to deteriorate in service before normal replacement; or

(c)Subject to appreciable variability because of uncertainties in manufacturing processes or inspection methods. Where the Agency is not satisfied in a specific case that a special factor is the correct approach to ensuring the necessary integrity of the parts of the structure under service conditions, other appropriate measures must be taken.
